So an anthology film...
i did not care for the first short at all. The colours were vibrant, the frames were really crisp but I felt like the whole message it was trying to convey was lost in trying too hard to make it humorous. It tries to take on a poetic approach but when the outbreak began, everything starts to get outrageous and it lost its way halfway through it. the worst part was the satirical take on the talk show that takes up at least 10 mins of the short. I felt like it was put on there to lengthen the short i didn't like not one bit. Although i'm not the biggest fan of ambiguous endings, I think it worked for this story. it doesn't offer anything new, everything felt so dated and I'm just sick and tired of zombies right now, I guess maybe idk. 1.5/5
The second short takes on a more serious tone. It's obviously made by KJW from the framing, to the pacing, to the colours involved in the shots. It seems like everything has been measured, adjusted, and polished to perfection. I didn't get bored at all considering there were no action sequences or loud music. The dialogue is deep enough to make you question things you believe in but not to the point that you have to pause the movie, scratch your head and go HUH?!? There's this one long shot of the robot praying and it's just so beautiful I had to include it here ok. 4.5/5
The third story is so bizarre and fun and unbelievably absurd but also entertaining. 3/5
Average's at 3 stars but giving it an extra half because of Kim Ji-woon's godliness.
