Every sapphic has had a crush on their teacher at least once in their life
I related to A Catholic Schoolhirl the most out of all the films because well, I was a Catholic Schoolgirl. This is the first time that Kaya falls in love. It feels wrong, it's confusing, it takes hold of her heart and mind and refuses to let go. It's right.
Growing up I had a lot of religious guilt. I hated myself. Everytime I felt attracted to a girl, I'd reprimand myself. It's gross. Disgusting. I used to stress myself out to the point that I had sleep paralysis every night.
In 7th grade, I had somewhat accepted that fuck, I might actually be gay. It was the first big crush. She was way older than me, but she was kind. In the film, Kaya falls in love with the beautiful and kind Sister Agnes. I like how the film depicts Kaya's crush. Like I did back in 7th grade, Kaya wanted to be near her crush at all times, offering to help out when she can. The actress does a really great job at portraying the confusing feelings from experiencing same-sex romance for the first time. You can see the cogs turning in her mind whenever she is near Sister Agnes. The shots are beautiful as well. Every scene perfectly conveys the emotions of first love. Even if it went nowhere, what matters is her self journey.
