That’s one hell of a movie, my god. Probably the bleakest Neo-Western I’ve seen to date, and man it brings the heat. It’s so nihilistic, so bleak, so hopeless to the point where you wonder how much of this is a projection from Peckinpah. It takes the revenge film and flips it on its head in such an interesting way. In the end, I suppose we’re all staring down the barrel of the gun.
