Sam Raimi and Rachel McAdams cooked for the entire length of this movie.
This movie was an all around experience in Dolby cinema. The first part of it, I really felt for Linda Liddle she was a gem of a human. She was charming, funny, and cute. Just a girl and her Cockatoo living their best life watching survivor. Dylan O’brien and his team of pretentious followers really treated her that bad, sort of like Milton from Office Space, when all she needed was a makeover.
I couldn’t wait for that plane to go down for that reason. Dylan O’Brien’s laugh is literally so insane it’s comical. They both had great chemistry on screen together. I lowkey forgot that Sam Raimi directed this movie up until the scene with the boar, gnarly. It only gets more wild and that horror influence really shines through. He gave us a solid jump scare as well that was pretty effective.
The way that Linda strives on that island is hilarious. She really knows her way around the environment, making cute little hats and sushi on the beach, while her “boss” is losing his mind. The tension stays tight when things start to escalate, that’s from the great writing and the direction of Sam Raimi. The ending was a bit of a stretch but I honestly wouldn’t want to see it any other way. This isn’t really a horror fest but it passes. Excited to see this again!
