In the summer of 1859, a widowed physician reluctantly agrees to take a recently freed slave and her mysterious Caucasian daughter on a five-day journey through the bloody West to find a distant town's Faith Healer. The woman believes her daughter is possessed. The doctor believes she simply carries The Sickness. Either way the fact remains that every living thing the girl touches mysteriously dies.

“Close. But it ain’t God you got all riled up.”

A bleak and bloody meditation on all kinds of faith.

This film understands that any answer it could give to the mystery at its center would be unsatisfactory, and chooses to focus on its characters inner struggles.

I can see some being unhappy with the ambiguity of the ending here, but the amazing acting from everyone involved and the gorgeous cinematography are enough to carry this solidly over the finish line!

3 and a half / 5 stars!🌟

You know, I typically enjoy Horror Westerns. I love Bone Tomahawk and Ravenous. I even thought Organ Trail was decent enough, but man there just isn’t anything here. Overall boring
