Certainly a curiosity. Can’t shake the feeling that it’s the pilot for a very late, not very good post-Twin Peaks ensemble comedy. As a standalone movie it sort of runs out of weirdness and becomes more satisfied with the very lackluster central mystery. Definitely gets repetitive. Still, there’s a lot of fun choices and it starts off pretty strong. As far as Hooper, I mean, it’s competent and works with limited sets but it feels too much like a TV show to be comparable to his better work.
