they weren’t lying when they said this movie feels like the actors weren’t acting at all.

while watching it, i couldn’t stop thinking about everything that happened behind the scenes, and all i wanna say is fuck u, dustin hoffman. yes, he had already done way more movies than her at the time, so he probably thought his whole ‘staying in character’ thing was something meryl needed to learn from him. but it’s no reason for him to slap her hard, degrade her, and even bring up her recently deceased boyfriend just to get an emotional reaction out of her. any good actor already knows how to access those emotions on cue. he seriously overdid it
