I’ve listened to the album countless times, never had too much interest in it just because I’m not the biggest “musical” type. I assumed it would be a deluded adaptation that would pervert the idea of the original album. I’d seen the animated segments and several other small pieces just having been a fan but never seen it all in order or with context. So after getting really high I was absolutely grasped by the opening sequence and was moved to tears. Then Bob Geldof opens his fucking mouth, really just awful shit. But the thing that makes up for the hammy acting and shite singing, is the masterpiece What Shall We Do Now? Spectacular addition and amazing animation that makes this movie have just so much more memorable. Pretty cool sequences and there’s no real conventional dialogue in the entire thing. For 1982 and all, pretty solid adaptation. I’ve re watched it twice since and it’s growing on me like a fungus. -2 points for not having Hey You. That song would make it.

i dont know how to describe this besides pure artistic genius. i've watched plenty of other movie musicals and movies made by bands (beatles movies lol) but honestly nothing comes close!! every single detail is so important, both with the camera work but also the mixed media scenes (which are actually so cool??)

not only is the symbolism and camera work brilliant but its so incredibly socially relevant. i say that about a lot of things but this one in particular i feel goes hand in hand with the "male loneliness epidemic" that is currently talked about a LOT. i think a lot could be learned from analyzing this film through a variety of lenses

the drawback is that because it both feels very experimental and is focused mainly on music i wouldn't necessarily recommend it to many people. i can definitely see how people would dislike it. still though, phenomenal work of art

Least reasonable crash out 

I still think this holds up insanely well, to me one of the most realistic analysis of how someone becomes bigoted/hateful/isolated and what drives those types of people. I cite this film/album a lot in real life when talking to people about certain types of folks becuase there are a lot of Pinks in the real world. Just check Reddit.

The perfect music video for the perfect album. I am readily willing to admit that I’m biased towards this movie because The Wall has been my favorite album since my freshman year of college. That being said, this movie acts as a visual interpretation of the concept album. The visuals are great, especially the animation which is top-notch and absolutely iconic. I won’t go into the plot because there are already many interpretations of this album online. I can understand how someone who hates Pink Floyd would dislike this movie given how driven it is by the music (although I can’t see why someone would hate the band in the first place). If you are a fan of classic rock in general though, or if you’re going through a rough patch in life and feeling isolated from the world, this is a must watch.
