Not sure how this popped on my radar. One of the most amateur new movies I’ve seen. From a formal and technical side, little care is given to maintaining audio-visual consistency. The whole film is shot POV but there is an abundance of inexplicable atmospheric intercuts to emphasize the”creepiness.” The sound is completely devoid of being attached to the onscreen happenings, sounding like the actors are reading from inside their recording box.

Storywise, it’s underwhelming and silly. There’s some laughably bad introspection. Some guy is paralleling his war crimes with nazi war crimes. He goes insane and battles his demons. The logistics of his demonic battle make no sense. It relies on its erraticism to capture. You know this movie thinks it’s edgy when it references Burzum.

This felt like a modern c-movie on shudder or tubi or something. Nothing is ever redemptive, just a snowball of diminishing quality. A good reminder of the risks involved in blindly adding these obscure flicks to my watchlists. Probably should have done a hair more research before. Oh well. Bad movie.

Possibly the wildest found footage movie I’ve ever seen. Lyrical, political, and the closest I’ve seen to Henenlotter in the form. It’s not exactly slavish to the verisimilitude of the form but if you can roll with it you will be rewarded. It’s also pretty fucking funny. 

Jon Gries is the exact sort of guy you get to carry this but there are other actors that absolutely crush it.

I knew next to nothing except this had something to do with nazis and you should go in with that amount of knowledge as well.
