This movie broke me.
Everything—the scenes, the characters, the performances feels painfully real. The balance is perfect, nothing feels forced or exaggerated which i think is rare in these kinds of movies
Mickey Rourke is absolutely mind-blowing here. Easily one of the most unforgettable performances of the 2000s. Randy “The Ram” Robinson is going to stay with me for a long time.
There are so many moments in this film that make your throat tighten, but weirdly, what hit me the hardest wasn’t just the final scene or the day he spends with his daughter. It was the scene where Pam and Randy go out to buy a gift for his daughter and the gift he chooses. I can’t fully explain it, but the good intention behind that choice, the innocence and loneliness inside this rough, broken man, really destroyed me. Such a small moment, yet it perfectly shows how he has no real place in the real world. Quietly devastating.
Flawless piece of art.
