Compressed folk horror about motherhood, go in blind and watch at night.

Wasn’t really sure what I was getting into with this as it is literally like a hour long but it looked really interesting and I was just kind of hoping with its runtime that it would manage to feel full and not half baked. While I definitely would’ve like more just to add a little bit more depth to its story, I actually really liked it and thought it never really wasted a second. It’s quite a dark story with moody visuals that look fantastic and I really loved the look of the forest and how deep and bleak it feels, it had an excellent atmosphere. It’s probably going to get a lot of comparisons to “ The Witch” tbh and it’s pretty easy to see why, not just with its overall aesthetic but with its story as well, so if you liked that this will probably be your thing too. Because it’s only a hour long it doesn’t feel like it get really get into the characters as much as I would’ve liked but everything we got was a really strong base that it’s not such a problem. A lot of themes on religion and some pretty sensitive topics so it probably would’ve benefited from just maybe 15 mins or so more imo. I’m a big fan of this slow, moody, folk horror and the way it explores that side of things is really well done and has some pretty wild and creative elements sprinkled in there that make it just different enough from your average folk horror. There’s one scene where the protagonist is kind of just tripping or something, I’m not really sure lol? And it’s got a pretty interesting way of going about it that I thought was really cool. Really liked the “dark forces” in the woods too, very eerie and a great design that is shown off just the right amount. So yeah would’ve liked a bit more from it but you can’t really go wrong with this as it is literally a hour long and I thought it was really good if this is your kind of thing.
