I have such a soft spot for quaint fiction, and so I'm very glad I was told about this movie. Immediately, it's clear that this is Frances' world and everyone else simply has their part to play, with the part of her best friend, Sophie, being the most important, both to her and to the viewer.
The lengths she takes to achieve her goals often means being selfish, short-sighted, and brusque toward the people around her, but these traits only speak to how well-developed her character truly is and just how much she drives the story. I can only hope to see more stories like this in the future
