Barbara Stanwyck. Oh my god, she's so terrific here. This isn't one of Capra's best of this era, it's mostly quite solid really but just doesn't land as well as it should. But Stanwyck's performance is definitely worth watching the whole movie, along side the pre-codeness of it all and the cross-cutting suspense of the last ten minutes.
