I got sent a screener for this and to say I was skeptical was an understatement. A film made purely for tik tok, so it’s vertical was a bizarre thing to wrap my head around and still is to be honest. I don’t like watching films on my phone, I’m one of those snobs that believe film should be watched on a bigger screen, unless u don’t have one then do what you gotta do. But I didn’t hate it, which is also a first for a screener I got sent. It’s quite enjoyable tbh. There is a lot of comedy bits I didn’t like, either because it felt dragged out or just not my type of humour, but there were moments it got a lil smile from me. There was some real solid scene like the shape shifter scene and any scene with the dad gave me this Swiss Army Man feeling which is great. Jon Bass is fun to watch and has some solid moments, he’s always an actor I like watching, and Mary Wiseman was pretty good too. It’s also shot and edited pretty well which is another surprise. Is this film anything special? No. But it’s an enjoyable watch and I respect them trying to cater to different audiences with its humour since tik tok is such a big user based app.

This format didn’t work, was never immersed with the scrolling and anticipating the end of the clip, why couldn’t it just be in 10 min TikTok’s?

There were some charming moments, but not enough to redeem the finished product.
