It's as if someone was inspired by Noe and Miike's best works and decided to make an action movie. It's disorienting strobing lights, disgusting gore, and downright depressing atmosphere creates this almost hypnotizing experience. So many things in this movie feels so inspired but in a way that it creates its own kind of bizarre blend.
It's no masterpiece but it is one of the most interesting works of the 2010s. The second half is this rush of brilliance I rarely see in an action movie. One of those movies I think I'll love on rewatch now that I know what to expect.
