Watched for a Canadian Film Day event~
I absolutely loved Cryptids and Cryptozoology when I was growing up so I went in expecting to enjoy this and I totally did, lots of unique and bold female characters and even some gender diverse representation which made me and my bestie so happy to see. Kryptic blends folk and cosmic horror, doing it against a gorgeous lush forest backdrop and some nice rural locations filled with a diverse and vibrant ensemble. As I was watching it I questioned some of the logic, and still kind of am but the ending kinda solidified me not even needing to have everything explained, I commend the ambitious narrative that was told using a small indie budget, and i’m bumping my rating up a bit because the lead actress was SO good i’ve been thinking of her performance all day.
