I really enjoyed the tension leading up to the mutiny, but afterwards, not so much. I felt the ending section was dragged out. With the acting, Charles Laughton gives a great performance as expected and Clark Gable is enjoyable and very charismatic. I also have to point the production value, the film is just very impressive for what it accomplishes with shooting on the sea.

Very engaging and surprisingly dark for a movie from the 30’s. Does fall apart in the final act, but it’s better than most of the garbage best picture winners I’ve been watching recently.

It’s a movie with immense scale and an incredibly nasty performance from Charles Laughton. Though it is admittedly slow in its pacing to its own detriment, I enjoyed it.

Just could not fully get into this one and I felt the runtime the whole ride. No glaring issues, but nothing to write home about either.
