Hard to rate documentaries among films, but this should be required viewing for every human being. When it was revealed that this entire doc was filmed BEFORE the events of October 7th, I was baffled. The disgusting history between Israel and Palestine spans longer than what the media pretends and it is Palestine, NOT ISRAEL, who has been the most affected. No Other Land does not even mention the tragedies occurring in the Gaza area of Palestine. There is a literal genocide and ethnic cleaning occurring in today’s world and seemingly every MAGA politician, especially those fucking idiots Trump and Elon, takes the side of Netanyahu and Israel. I am disgusted. I am appalled. I am tired.

Basel and Yuvel ask over and over in the documentary “does filming this do anything?” And you start to think.. does winning the Academy Award for Best Documentary do anything? Does social media outrage translate to real world change?

You like to hope the answer is yet, but since this destruction is still happening, the film doesn’t offer any solution. I think that’s the best way to do it.
