Man, Until Dawn (2025) really dropped the ball. I wasn’t expecting a straight copy of the game, but if you’re gonna change things up, at least make the new story and twists worth it. Instead, everything felt kind of lazy, and don’t even get me started on the wendigos—they looked so cheap and nowhere near as terrifying as the game. Total downgrade.
The biggest miss, though, is that they completely ignored what made Until Dawn special: the choices. If this had been some kind of interactive experience where the audience got to decide who lives and dies, it would’ve instantly set it apart. Instead, it’s just another bland horror movie.
Also, another one of the biggest letdowns for me was that they didn’t include the narrator aspect. That was always something I loved about the game—the psychiatrist guiding you between chapters, asking questions, and really messing with your head. It added so much atmosphere and tension, and I thought for sure they’d bring that into the movie. Without it, the film just felt like it was missing a huge piece of what made Until Dawn special.
