this movie follows the mary poppins blueprint to a T, although it ends up feeling just a bit less charming, in my opinion. i did really love the found family aspects (eglantine & emelius are very cute to me!) as well as the quirky decisions that this film often made. i also thought that the visual effects held up super well, possibly because they went in a cute & magical direction rather than a realistic one. the WWII / blitz setting is definitely an interesting choice, but i personally thought that the darkness of that choice contrasted well with all of this movie's silliness. i wouldn't go in expecting perfection; the musical numbers are a lot less memorable than those of mary poppins, and the events of the movie feel a little disjointed at times. however, i had a lot of fun watching this, and i fully get why people love it!
