boy is this thing pure thrill. had me by the gonads the entire time, possibly solidifying mystery as the most fun genre in my eyes.

TIGHT execution — not a single unnecessary detail on this slim 90 minute banger. gotta applaud the runtime alone here, impressive how well they were able to build suspense across the short time frame

love how many different believable archetypes of spies they were able to jam in here — the james bond clone has been done too many times, something i hadnt even realized until seeing how creative black bag gets with its spies. they don’t go full johnny english, either, which is nice — everyone feels plausible.

too heavy handed with the exposition in the opening dinner party scene, and i dont love a robotic main character, but honestly both of those decisions are explained away quite tidily (drugs & mechanical mfs are probably great spies), so im not at all mad

holds up surprisingly well on second watch, which is rare for a movie that’s ultimately a mystery

i still love these characters and the overall vibe. a spy movie well worth checking out. plus that 2nd person GTA ass opening slaps so hard

Yes!! Rarely does a script present itself as lean, blunt, and clever as this. Soderbergh leaves no fat on this 90 minute movie, getting straight to the point in its misdirection. Offering the audience just enough to build tension and play along.

Doesn’t need a giant twist, deceptively fun in its genre bending. Struggles to walk itself out of the convoluted maze it creates but that’s a small price to pay for the ride it offers.

Starts a bit slow, but it draws you in to the mystery and keeps you engaged. It is a bit stiff, and lacks a bit charm in my opinion.
