This type of film is what I call a “grandad film”.
They’re the type of films that your grandad watches over a cup of coffee, a film that, although not being the greatest film you’ve ever seen, still has something that makes him smile. My grandad was born in 1942, and right around when this movie is set, he was around 3 years old. Although my grandad’s not Welsh, and although he’s never even been to Wales for that matter, he still found this to be a “nice” film. Nothing too big, nothing too grand, just something that a man in his eighties can enjoy over a cup of coffee.
Also, I found it funny when he started pointing out the fact some of the car engines in this film didn’t exist until the 1960s.
