And then David Jonsson became a living puppet. Funniest shit I’ve ever seen.
Been a bit since my last short film, but it’s a great one at that, just about 12 minutes long. This stars future Oscar winner David Jonsson as a graduating teen named Oz who misses his graduation due to him immature ability to grow up from playing with toys and has his soul transported into a supernatural doll. All of that in 12 minutes, and it’s great.
It’s very comedic, full of swear words, maybe a bit too much but that could be the British culture showing. Great physical acting, David Jonsson does really good voice work as the puppet, and now I wanna see him in some kind of animated film.
The horror is minimal but when it shows it shines, it’s very grotesque mostly with Oz getting his arm cut off and how the puppet connects to said arm before getting cut off. Good body horror with good practical effects.
If this was a full length film, I’d be ready to sit down and watch the whole thing. And I think we should be campaigning for that as much as we should be campaigning for David Jonsson to win an Oscar.
Live, laugh, love…the end credits and the mysterious scene at the end. I loved how it told a small story of what happened after Oz transported himself back to his human body and the reveal of how his neighbor seems to be the one with the supernatural puppets.
