“kalo belum baikan sama masa lalu, bagaimana kita bisa bahagia”wregas tau betul cara memadukan budaya tanpa kehilangan jiwa sinema-nya. visual, musik, akting, semuanya menyatu jadi satu experience yang… merasuk (literally). film yang unik dan banyak banget yang bisa aku ambil, tiap orang bakal pulang dengan pesan yang beda.
bakal balik lagi ke bioskop waktu tayang reguler.

bener bener terasuk sama keindahan atmosfer ni film, setiap roh-roh punya musiknya sendiri yang bisa bikin penonton beneran terasuk. sebuah kehormatan bisa nonton film ini di bioskop sebelum turun layar, i think this movie deserve more and more audience, sayang sekali film ini ketutup sama ghost in the cell, both are great films but id prefer this one

Indonesian Marty Supreme? Sign me up. Para Perasuk explores the themes of culture, society, trauma, problems, ambition, forgiveness, and more in such an artistic and incredible film experience. I’ve been wanting to watch this since first hearing the reviews from Sundance, and it indeed was amazing.
The sound and scoring for this was INCREDIBLY made, and might be one of my favorites ever in a movie. The chanting and music in every “possession” scene literally blew me away. The shots of the festival and the village atmosphere were also incredible, and they really nailed the theming of this film!
However, some aspects in the first-hour felt a bit weak. This includes some cringes and jokes that felt so out of place and didn’t do for me, also some scenes that’s quite out-of-theme. The visual effects weren’t done super well as well, so I’m real glad this film relies heavily more on its practical effects (which were amazing).
But keeping those aside, the second-half was literally perfection. So many scenes shocked me, and they took many turns which I did not foresee. For a 2-hour film, it didn’t even feel long ‘cause I was HOOKED. Incredible performance from the whole cast, but Anggun was definitely the highlight here. Her acting really carried so much more emotions and character for the “posession” scenes, couldn’t have done a better casting!
I can go on and talk about my love for this film for so much loooonger. Like how the moral and message were delivered so well AND in a nicely-written story. And I will not shut up about the score, got me leaving the cinema with chills. But all I got left to say is: EVERYONE MUST CHECK OUT THIS MASTERPIECE ONCE IT RELEASES (ESPECIALLY IN CINEMAS)!!
