I had a blast with this movie. It kept me hooked the whole way through with Violet’s nonstop texts raising the tension and the mystery of who was really behind it all—I even thought Henry was the culprit for a while. The camerawork was great too, especially that wild shot during the house fight when the camera flipped as she got thrown across the table.
My only complaint is I wish the stakes were higher. Besides the main villain and the musician, nobody else in the restaurant really died, which felt like a missed chance to crank up the tension. A couple scenes came off a little goofy too, like the window shattering and the car-delivered gun moment. Still, it was a really entertaining watch.
Also, random side note—this has nothing to do with Drop, but watching Brandon Sklenar in 1923 and in this movie really sold me on him as a potential DCU Batman. The way he can switch from intimidating to comforting in an instant just screams Bruce Wayne to me. I know he’s been getting some hate, but honestly I see the vision. Under James Gunn’s direction and with the right writer for The Brave and the Bold, I think he could nail the role of a seasoned Batman who’s also trying to be a father to Damian.
