It makes sense that this film loses any interesting voice the second Denzel isn’t in the film anymore. Instead of watching this story told from an African-American perspective, we instead have to watch how white people can struggle too. It makes this feel incredibly misguided. Like this conflict is only interesting because someone who is white is being affected by the ongoing issue of another race. Genuinely makes me incredibly angry despite how bland the actual filmmaking is.
