“It's like looking at a bed of flowers…”
Ahhhh. Ahhhhh. Ahhhh. I don’t know what I was expecting but I cannot get over this movie. I love pollock’s art and his artistic ideology but I hate the man behind it. This movie doesn’t go out of the way to show him being overtly callous, though. Little things build up until suddenly, it’s over and too late.
I love how this story is told. I love how we aren’t shown every little thing, and we don’t need to be told what caused the major decline in Pollock’s life. We infer, we see what happens because of it.
I am a massive AbEx person and want to go into a career revolving around it. I can’t believe I hadn’t seen this earlier.
I love that Pollock is depicted as a person, just as he is. He loves animals. He cares about painting. He’s egotistical and a braggart. He’s an alcoholic - one who recovered temporarily before relapsing again. He isn’t just a bad man behind ‘interesting’ art. He was a real guy. Contemporarily it feels like there are so many black or white depictions of artists, and it was refreshing to not have that shoved in my face while watching. (I already do not like Pollock. I have no interest in watching him be horrible for two hours.)
Harden does an incredible job playing Krasner. I love you Lee Krasner, they could never make me hate you. Guggenheim’s actress was also amazing and really stole the spotlight in every scene she was in.
This is all over the place because I’m reviewing this at 2 in the morning. But anyways, I am so back to real movies after so much Marvel downtime.
