Cage makes a promise to his ma on her deathbed that he will never get married and his job as a private eye tailing cheating spouses only reinforces his distrust in matrimony. But girlfriend Sarah Jessica Parker won’t wait forever. A spur of the moment decision to finally tie the knot in Vegas, is disrupted by gangster James Caan who takes a shine to Parker due to her resemblance to his late wife, and who offers an ‘indecent proposal’ type deal that will help Cage clear a shit ton of gambling debt.
This romcom is funny enough, but it’s hard to ignore that Cage’s character is pretty much an arsehole, if not a well intentioned one. The scene where he goes off on the ‘Bueller’ guy taking forever to book a plane ticket is quite the cathartic release without actually having to go full Karen yourself.
There is plenty of love for Elvis with tunes from the man himself and many a cover (including baby Bruno Mars). The Flying Elvis skydiving troop are a hoot and the same moniker was later used by a TNA tag team.
