Oh how I love movies that take place in one setting. It really brings you into the scene in a way most movies can’t.
Elegant Beast is a great example of this. The characters express themselves openly as if no one is there, while in reality another family member is always hiding in another room, listening to their “private” conversation. As a viewer that is exactly what I am doing too. In a movie you can never truly be alone, just like how you’re never truly alone in the Maeda family’s house.

I’ve wanted to watch this for so long and it surely did not disappoint!

Fantastic writing, I love a film all filmed in one space
Very effective simple execution of a lot of ideas here, and a lot of claustrophobic obscuring of the frame and all that type stuff type stuff
Leaves a lot to love and definitely sets the vibe nicely and hammers it in but lowk leaves a little I was desiring
Nothing deal breaking at all but I feel like you can see where things could’ve been spiced up a bit or made a bit more interesting technicality wise
Otherwise really awesome clear influence on Parasite even in the symbolism
That was super neat
This was really great

“Lighting has lost all its character” Man, ain’t that the truth.

Unbelievably impressive to make a 90 minute film set in a one room apartment that consistently had me going “damn” at lighting, blocking, shot composition. There’s so much going on here.

Good for her.
