Yeah so you all were wrong, and this is actually great. Vanessa Kirby puts on a show in this heart-pounding crime thriller.
We set the tone by immediately being introduced to a world not unlike our own, crumbling economy and all. I know this comparison has probably been made already, but this really reminded me of Good Time in all the best ways. At the core of this film, Kirby’s character is fighting two battles: the main one obviously being her fight to maintain her family home and protect her brother, but also her fight against herself (and her dog shit mother). And her journey is both action-packed and emotional. She’s a total baddie, but your heart will break for her.
I think the script is really solid, but the direction and Kirby’s performance really put this one over the top for me. Don’t get the reception of this film at all.
