Went in watching Nouvelle Vague totally unprepared didn’t know much about Jean or his films and still ended up really enjoying it. The way it tells Jean’s story feels intimate but also playful, like you’re just tagging along with him through different moments of his life.
I’m pretty sure I missed a bunch of references, but that kinda makes me excited to dive into his earlier films first. Planning to rewatch this later with more context.
Even without that background, it still hit in a nice way funny at times, a bit tender, and surprisingly moving.
