Mannn, I love picking up obscure secondhand dvds! Every once in a while you get to watch a hidden gem like this.
Getting to Know You is a romcom short film starring Elizabeth Keener as Tenny, a lesbian looking for love with all the wrong women. We watch her go on a few dates, all of which end in bed, but the dates’ eccentricities have Tenny running in the other direction.
The bizarre hookup scenes are pretty funny. A woman talks about cars and tells Tenny to “FLOOR IT!” while Tenny goes down on her, and another date speaks to her massive collection of plushies with baby-talk mid-makeout session… not a huge turn on. The one woman Tenny is actually interested in doesn’t want anything serious. The dating scene is looking bleak, but this ends on a lighter note, with potential for a new relationship thanks to wingwoman Anne Ramsay.
It’s a fun watch for the comedy, and there are a lot of “that guy!” familiar faces that’ll have you scrolling through imdb trying to figure out what they’re from. I really enjoyed this! Hopefully it’ll make it onto YouTube one day or something :)
