I can’t say this is an uninteresting film, because it certainly isn’t. Death Laid an Egg does try to tackle a range of interesting topics, but it always fails to do so with any kind of coherence.
The film makes no sense at all, and I feel like I gained absolutely nothing from watching it. These sorts of films usually have strong aesthetic qualities to help decipher a tougher message, but not this one. The soundtrack is awful, and the color palette couldn’t be more bland. The acting is also not great.
Some shots are surely interesting, and the character dynamics can be surprisingly good, thanks to the (very obvious) influence of Jean-Luc Godard. However, this isn’t enough to save Death Laid an Egg from being a boring, confusing, dry mess of a film.
