Another absolute banger with the gentle magic of Debussy’s music.
This film is sooooo underrated. I honestly didn’t expect to love it as much as I did.
For the first hour, I couldn’t stop smiling, even dancing around lol. The chemistry between the characters feels so real, delicate, awkward, and quietly beautiful. Every look, every pause, every hesitant word between them builds this tender rhythm that pulls you in without you even noticing. The snowy landscapes and soft winter light give the whole film a dreamlike calm, like time has slowed down just for these people to exist together.
Then, as the story shifts, that calm begins to crack. I found myself sitting completely still, staring at the screen, trying to deny what was unfolding. And by the final fifteen minutes, there was nothing left to do but accept it, accept that some moments are beautiful precisely because they can’t last.
My Sunshine isn’t loud or dramatic. It moves gently, like the sound of skates gliding across ice, and when it ends, it leaves you in silence, the kind of silence that feels full. It’s the warmth you still feel after the light fades, the quiet ache of something fleeting yet unforgettable. I just love this movie a little bit too much lol.
