i finally used my new dvd player after a few months of having it & i wanted my first dvd watch to be `Marronnier’ (2004) that my gorgeous doll obsessed mootie @batlovrs**** recommended me abit ago & in honour of it being her birthday yesterday 🖤🖤🎂

this is the most surreal film i have seen & i enjoyed it so much. The aesthetic of the film is so pretty & ofc the dolls are so cool. also the dvd main menu screen is so so pretty!! it comes with bonus features also so I’ll have to check them out sometime 🩸
The barrel scenes in this film reminded me of the movie ‘Megan is missing’ that i watched a few years ago, which if you’ve seen that film yk how creepy the barrel scene is!!

i really loved the scenes with the pink goo machine that turns them into dolls. It’s just so cool & pretty!!

there’s soo many scenes i loved that i won’t mention bc i don’t want to spoil too much if anyone ends up watching. But if you love dolls i think you would love this film 🖤 Junji Itos work is just so good!!

What a fuckin movie bro. I really really really thought I found some niche, bottom of the barrel ass, mediocre ass japanese movie but man this movie is kinda fucking awesome. It’s far from perfect but my god this movie breaks so many rules of filmmaking it’s just insane. it’s ridiculously fast paced, has bonkers editing, and overall just feels like a drug filled fever dream.

The dolls were very cool & creepy but asides from that this was horrendous. It doesn’t take itself seriously at all, makes very strange plot decisions that don’t make much sense & it is filmed very strangely. However, some scenes were fun & Junji Ito’s involvement is pretty cool. Recommended for fans of J-horror but it’s not a good film by any means lol
