Finding Dory looks great visually, but it did not hit me emotionally the same way Finding Nemo did. The animation and underwater environments are obviously impressive, and there are still some genuinely funny moments, but the story feels a lot safer and less impactful.
A lot of the emotional beats are centered around memory and identity, which is a good idea on paper, but for me it felt a bit repetitive after a while. The movie keeps reminding you of its message instead of letting it naturally build through the story.
I also think some of the side characters are more memorable than the actual plot itself. The movie is entertaining moment to moment, but I was not really invested emotionally in where it was going. Compared to Finding Nemo, it feels less focused and a bit too reliant on nostalgia and familiar formulas.
I can still see why people enjoy it, especially because it is visually polished and easy to watch, but personally it did not leave much of an impact on me after it ended. Not bad, just kind of forgettable compared to the first movie.
