I'd prefer a 20 hour chronological history of queer comedy a la Ken Burns, but this was fun even if it feels far too cursory.
It's so nice to see some really great comics whose queerness kept them on the fringe of mainstream comedy finally get their flowers, though! Fuck yeah Margaret Cho! Fuck yeah Judy Gold! Fuck yeah Scott Thompson, Buddy Cole should've narrated this whole thing.
Conflicted on the Netflix aspect of it, but kudos to the filmmakers and subjects (especially Mae Martin) for directly confronting how shitty and harmful it is to platform Chappelle, et al.
It's not exactly a lot of new information for anyone already plugged into the history of standup comedy, but it's fun to spend 90 minutes in an alternate universe where everyone agrees that Sandra Bernhard's off-broadway show was THE cultural event of the 20th century.
