When Jeanne, a meticulous insurance assessor, is suddenly left to care for her estranged sister’s two children after their mother vanishes, her carefully ordered life begins to unravel. Confronted with unexpected responsibilities, she must balance the fragile task of earning the children’s trust while also tending to her own relationship with her girlfriend, who struggles to adjust to Jeanne’s new role.

Out of Love
Sometimes we leave people behind out of love.

Such an intersesting and important topic. The right to disapear in france is a new concept to me and this movie really captures it from all angles without judement.

What happenes to the people left behind? How must it feel for the person leaving everying. What can make a person choose this?

Deals alot with how people respond to different situations. One sister is mad at the dad. The other doesnt have the energy to be mad. One leaves, one stays. How we respond to grief and confusion.

Loved the scen in the laundry room talking about who's fault it is and figuring out its no one person or things fault. People make choices and its not for us to determine a reasoning. Sometimes we just have to focus on the things we have in our power an move on the best we can.

Shot in an intersesting way. Lots of close ups and from odd angles. Also has lots a beutifully wide shots like of the beach and the cabin. Particularly liked the hyperventilating scene and how it was done. The shaving scene as well.

Performances are outstanding. The kids did wonderful.

There is so much to love in this movie and Nathan did a great job. I had the privlage to do a Q&A with him after a local screening and he is not only a great filmmaker but a really awesome person.

THATS A GOOD MOVIE.

Calm, beautiful, and criminally underrated. The cinematography is gorgeous . Music is subtle and perfect, letting the silence do the heavy lifting. No cheap drama, just honest, patient storytelling that trusts you to feel things. Loved it. Watch this if you’re tired of noisy films.
