God's plan is like a beautiful tapestry, and the tragedy of being human is that we only get to see it from the back, with all of it's ragged threads and the muddy colors.
and this is our tragedy. witnessing these imperfections of the world with our two front eyes, and experiencing human emotions and viewing them with our third eye which always observes and observes. i used to think we view this world right in its face, right from the front. but movies like yi yi and this, show us that we view it from the back. so many complex situations, so many complex souls and so many complex feelings waiting to be explored and understood. this is a part of our lives which we cant really fully understand and ive learned that we should be grateful for this too, because its all we have and all we'll ever get. we cannot let it go to waste for temporary pleasures.
one of the saddest stories ever put to screen. its touching and it reaches the audience and has us right where the director intended. Jackson Yee in this movie puts in the performance of a lifetime. one of the greatest pieces of acting one could experience. unfortunately the subtitle barrier strikes again and he isnt applauded for giving life to this character.
