Not Fade Away

One of those understated gems that I was bound to fall in love with. Chase’s direction here is serviceable, but is excellent in capturing an atmosphere. Gandolfini is mesmerizing whenever he is on screen. Absolutely dynamite ending, worth the price of admission solely for that.

My immediate impression was who in the hell made the call to put that wig on that child. (The little sister)

Overall its clunky, but thankfully the lead john magaro is charismatic enough for this “Just one of those guys who cant stop talking about his band” type movies. Actually for me the highlight was dom mcelligot as the wacky older sister.

Fair warning; at one point he starts dipping sliced deli meat into a jar of mayo and eating it.

Not Fade Away is excellent with its storytelling. The acting by everyone is good although some of the characters could be unlikeable like Douglas' mom. The filming is a little strange and the music is very good even if their band doesn't really do well. The film is slow however in the second half but overrall, very good movie. The ending does give me alot of questions.
