I had so many thoughts during the movie, I hope I didn’t forget them all.
So first of all, I have to talk about the incredible shots that are put to screen here. The constant aspect ratio changes, the fog, the perspectives, it’s just actually perfect and truly up there in the top 5 of the most visually appealing movies of 2026 so far.
The Irish places they shot in were fantastic, the makeup, hair and production design is great.
I love Hugh Hackman as this variant of Robin Hood and you can see he really embodies the character with all he has. Another big highlight was Noah jupe, who I think might be my ultimate celebrity crush right now and bill skarsgard was unrecognizable as always.
Now, to get into the problems I have with it:
The backstory of this new Robin Hood is so fucking sloppy and stupid, it ruins the entire idea of the audience pitying him. I mean you’re trying to tell me Robin Hood just killed hundreds of people because he had fun?? Absolutely not.
The other thing is that there were some scenes that really stretched out and I almost fell asleep a couple of times.
Still, all that can’t change the admiration I have for this movie. I just think the potential wasn’t used enough and it makes me a little sad because this could’ve been one of the best of the year.
