before seeing the trailer for this movie last year i had no idea about pike river and everything that happened and even after i didn’t know much so im not qualified to speak on the accuracy but what i can day is they captured real pain and action so well. some of the static shots like the ones of the crosses with the men’s uniforms and the women having sleepovers they just hit so hard. the cinematography was phenomenal and i don’t even want to comment on the acting because we all know it was amazing.

Melanie Lynskey and Robyn Malcolm are great in their roles, as is Lucy Lawless as Helen Kelly.

Jacinda Ardern was a surprising cameo, even more so the lack of John Campbell jump scare was appreciated.
