So unbelievably boring, genuinely thought it was going to end about 5 times, fell asleep at one point too.
The basement scene at the end was pretty cool but that was about it.

i had really high expectations for this movie, especially after the way guillermo del toro praised it and described it. despite the bad ratings and negative reviews, i still went in hopeful. but honestly, it really disappointed me, especially coming from Osgood. after how incredible longlegs and the monkey were, he gives us this?

i thought he was about to have an amazing horror streak, but maybe this is what happens when you release films so close together. he should probably take more time to plan things out and really craft something great for us as viewers.

that said, even though it disappointed me, i still think it has some strong moments. i definitely got a huge scare, and the fear those monsters gave me was very real. i’m honestly surprised i was even able to sleep after watching it.

and even with all that, i still love you, osgood. one disappointing movie doesn’t mean i’ll stop appreciating his work. i’ll absolutely be seated for his next film.

Perkins failed again, but for some reason I want him to try again

I like Perkins' work, I mean it; but for some reason, his films never quite gel. There were some very well-executed elements here, mainly the great atmosphere Perkins creates in the cabin.

We also have surreal elements that I quite enjoyed, and a couple of creatures with a wonderful design. So, what went wrong?

Well, it's boring. I there’s not much explanation; it's a film that's very confusing at the beginning, and what ultimately dooms it is that by the time the story gets interesting, your interest is nonexistent or you're already asleep. And, well, the scares aren't very effective despite everything.

I genuinely like the ideas behind this film, so it's a shame that it doesn't work for most of its runtime. Other things worth highlighting are its cinematography, which strives to be full of interesting shots, and succeeds; visually, every shot is interesting and there’s always something interesting to watch at screen, and some shots are truly wonderful. And Tatiana Maslany does a great job and is undoubtedly one of the best things about Keeper.

I did enjoy this movie. Kind of mundane and monotonous scenes build up till we get actual good action. There was a few in between like the cake and that one scare by the trash can that was freaky. Mostly it was the acting of Tatiana Maslany that kept me locked in. I would like some more back story here but it what it is.
