The way the shots dragged, the way the characters were introduced, the way the story was told with such tenderness, it's really one of those films where you can relate (or imagine) what it must feel like to be around people who are supposed to provide comfort but can't see past what you're supposed to be or do.

In all seriousness it feels so real, because it’s not this over the top gesture. It’s a vicegrip slowly crushing your lungs and making your face turn blue. Deeply sad but I wish it had more substance. Anand is mostly a passenger in his own life choosing between freedom and thriving in an environment hostile to queerness and that was what disappointed me most, the lack of agency, but thats life I guess.
