After the visceral brutality of Bull, Dragonfly shifts into something quieter but no less unsettling; a kitchen-sink drama about loneliness and elder care that slowly, methodically, reveals itself as something else entirely. Blethyn and Riseborough are both extraordinary, building an unlikely friendship with such lived-in specificity that the creeping dread underneath feels almost incidental until it isn't. The film operates on Hitchcockian unease, letting small gestures carry disproportionate weight, and the score is ahead of the action at every turn, signalling danger the characters can't yet see. It's stark, fierce, uncompromising in its bleakness, and genuinely shocking in ways that linger uncomfortably. Not as formally controlled as Bull, but just as willing to go somewhere dark and stay there.

Different to what I thought it would be but it was mostly a really sweet story. I didn't expect the ending but it made lots of sense and gave Coleen more depth and had actually shocked me.

Yk when a film in its last half hour, like a flame that is at full force and is about to extinguish any second, when the film throws everything at you the change of narrative style an end to something you've been absorbed in for over an hour. Completely throws you off and smacks you in the face.
From a wholesome, odd slice of life to a tense gruesome ending. With tension that isn't obvious but the you can feel it underneath you waiting, boiling.
This film isn't perfect but theres something about it that makes me think it is.
