I would’ve rated it this high just for the fact that I was watching it together with Channing Tatum.
But jokes aside, it’s genuinely very good. Probably my favorite from Berlinale this year. Everyone delivered.
The story itself may not be entirely original, but Beth de Araújo tells it in a pretty unique way – through the eyes of a child forced to witness deeply traumatic things. That perspective works both thematically and visually, giving the film its emotional weight.
And there’s definitely something incredibly special about sharing a festival premiere screening with the cast and crew in the same room. That kind of experience truly stays with you.
