The Twelve Dancing Princesses is so lovely and comforting; I feel like I say this about every Barbie film but it's one of my favourites. It's magical, and romantic, and reinforces the importance of perseverance and love. I adore all of the princesses' dresses, especially Genevieve's, and their relationship with their father. Derek is a sweetheart, too, and as far as Barbie love interests go he's pretty great. Of course, there are the odd quirks here and there, like Derek's parrot (there's no way that wasn't a white man in the recording booth putting on an Indian accent) and Rowena's monkey Brutus, but on the whole this is such a beautiful and nostalgic film that I love revisiting.
→ film-related note: lacey pissed me the fuck off as a kid, and still does now that i'm an adult; that leaf raking scene fills me with rage
