George A. Romero was ahead of his time with the commentary on performative media, but that's where my compliments start and end. The fact that people are more preoccupied with the documentation of the apocalypse and being a bystander to death is something I could see today if the apocalypse happened. I will give a half star for the found footage aspect because there are some genuine shots of massive empty spaces that worked for me.
The acting was horrendous. We do not spend enough time with the characters to truly care about their demise. The dialogue is corny and why do the Amish have bombs??? But not cars?? The 2000s versions of these are the downfall of Romero's zombie media for me. While I am still going to watch his last film, I am not as enthralled by them as his older movies when they had space to grow rather than pump out ideas at a crazy rate.
