The Three Sisters
Oscar Nominated Animated Short Film

I honestly have no idea why this was nominated for Best Animated Short Film. There’s nothing captivating about it, its animation is rough, and the story feels rather sexist and degrading. I was not a fan of The Three Sisters.

The Three Sisters
"HEH!"

The Three Sisters has a certain charm right out of the gate. The 2D animation is undeniably cute. There’s a sweetness to the visual style that makes me want to like it.
Unfortunately, the story just doesn’t live up to the look. It feels thin and underdeveloped, like it’s trying to say something but never quite does. Despite its short runtime, I found myself checking how much time was left. The emotional beats don’t hit as hard as they seem intended to, and the overall arc feels predictable and a little bland.
It’s not bad by any means, it's just… fine. Pleasant enough to watch, but not especially memorable. While the animation is lovely, the storytelling doesn’t feel strong or original enough to justify an Oscar nomination.
