If you are a filmmaker trying to make meaningful work with no budget, this is top of the line. There is such a brooding sadness and honest realism in this film and has a good balance of both comedy and tragedy. This is all about Texas trying to hold onto what they have and being afraid of modernity and change, and executes it in such a meaningful and way that cuts deep. This explores alcoholism and cognitive dissonance in such a raw stripped down way that I’ve never seen before. All the actors are just regular Texas folk and each one outdoes the next in powerhouse performances. As of now no one that follows me on letterboxd has seen this, but I guarantee that it is worth your time and a better independent movie than something like Clerks (which is also great). This is to be watched with others who you like to laugh with.
